Setting Standards
Setting Standards
Quality and efficiency start with standardizing the best practices for productivity and service excellence. Recognizing the need for industry consensus on process and metrics standards, CLS recruited key industry leaders and spearheaded the creation of the Open Legal Standards Initiative (OLSI) to help bring industry best practices to you.

OLSI is a nonprofit organization whose early members include several current and former in-house lawyers (from companies such as Wal-Mart, Delta, Heller Financial, Westinghouse), other recognized industry experts, as well as a representative from the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) – the leading trade association for in-house lawyers.

OLSI’s committees have developed the first ever uniform classification of legal business processes, best practices for executing those processes, and consistent methodologies for capturing and calculating standardized performance metrics.

In conjunction with the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), OLSI has launched a series of programs designed to develop a standard list of metrics, a consistent methodology for measuring the metrics and a unique data gathering methodology for benchmarking these key process-centric performance metrics.

OLSI and ACC will also be launching the first-ever Performance Metrics and Benchmarking Survey designed to provide the foundational data for industry-wide standardization and more meaningful benchmarking.

It’s all part of CLS’s mission to bring best practices under one platform and share them with you.
